Joanie Williams
and the Laughing Sal Doll she created.

On April 28, 1997 Joanie Williams presented me with a Laughing Sal Doll she created. I think it is one of the nicest gifts I have ever received. The likeness of the doll was inspired through meditation. Joanie is a very spirital person and she had many wonderful experiences of joy while creating Laughing Sal. The lessons of Sal are very powerful. Lightness of heart, love and laughter are things the world still needs to learn. Thank you so much Joanie; you are a great friend and an exceptional artist.

This doll took over 80 hours to create. The face, hands and and feet were sculpted out of clay. Then, the clothes, hair and hat were all made by hand. So, if you figure 80, times minimum wage you can order one!

Interesting NOTE: Joanie Williams lived kitty-corner to
Shirley Leytem in San Francisco on 25th and Santiago (Shirley provided many of the Playland photos in this web site).
